Summertime

I keep starting a post then losing steam.

I was going to write about taking the girls to their first movie (Toy Story 3) and how they LOVED it and totally shocked me by sitting through the entire thing and being incredibly well behaved (the giant bucket of popcorn helped).  But that happened weeks ago and it feels like the moment has passed.

Same with the fireworks. I was prepared for disaster when we took them, since loud noises still freak them out (they’re STILL scared of the vacuum and don't you dare use the hand dryer in the ladies room, I’ll have to peel Katie off the ceiling).  I talked the fireworks up, how fun they were, and beautiful!  I brought up the ever popular Max and Ruby and how they LOVED fireworks.  I got them earplugs.  They loved the pre fireworks festivities, and once the actual fireworks started they…. freaked out a little.  Katie kept saying “OK Mommy, I’m ready to go home.  Let’s go home!”  But within about two minutes she was oohing and aahing and saying WOW!  I like the green ones!  Charlotte never really warmed up to them, she pretty much kept her head buried in my mom’s shoulder, but she did sit through them and now says she liked them but they were loud.  And a little scary.

So there’s the fireworks in a nutshell.

There’s not much else going on.  We go to the pool almost every nice day and they swim likes fishes (really, they swim, it’s amazing).

This is them on Monday on their way into the pool.  Charlotte insisted on wearing dress up plastic shoes and it just wasn’t worth fighting over.  Not to be left out, Katie had to wear her Jets baseball hat.  Backwards.  Oh and a necklace. They made quite the duo.

Did I mention Charlotte’s shoes were both right feet?  Yep.

I hope everyone is having as much summer fun as we are. :)

Oh, their pool get up is hilarious! You are so great to let them indulge in their moments!! I dothe same thing with posting...I'll take pictures of some funny event or a story to weave and then if it doesn't happen pronto, it usually never happens. Hence, i have quite a number of weird photos on my computer that are taking up space!
