We had our 18 month appointment with the pediatrician this morning. I was prepared for a lot of things going in...sadly, I find myself always prepared for some kind of bad news when it comes to doctors visits. But nothing...nothing...could have prepared me for this.
This is just mind blowing to me. It's like all of a sudden black is white, up is down, I'm a Republican and my husband likes disco. It's something I never thought would happen.
When the girls were born Katie was 3lbs 10oz and Charlotte was 3lbs 3oz. When you're that little, 7 ounces makes a big difference. Charlotte seemed so much smaller, so tiny. Our little baby bird her daddy called her. And for the last year plus they have consistently stayed about 1/2 pound apart, though as they got bigger it became less and less noticeable.
Charlotte is now almost half a pound bigger than Katie. I was in such disbelief, I made the doctor take the scale back out and weigh them both again...and sure enough. Same results.
Then I picked them up off the scale and looked to make sure I hadn't (for pretty much the first time ever....) mixed the two of them up. Nope. The heavier one was definitely Charlotte. My little baby bird isn't so little. In my head she's my tiny baby who doesn't like to eat. She still doesn't eat as much as Katie - but she LOVES milk. And I give her as much as she wants because she's my 'tiny' one. Guess maybe I'd better rethink that plan.
My delicate girls... Katie at 33 1/4 inches tall and 28lbs 5 oz, Charlotte at 33 inches and 28lbs 12 oz...
(Charlotte is on the left, Katie on the right)
And because I can't resist....C and K at 6 months and 18 months...
