M.I.A.

I’ve never gone this long without writing.  It’s easy once you go a few days to go a few more, then a few more…. and before you know it, it’s been two weeks.

The girls had their 2 1/2 year check up last week – I really can’t believe they’re 2 1/2.  They are totally little girls, I would barely even call them toddlers anymore.  It’s awesome and so sad for me at the same time.

Katie on the left, Charlotte on the right.
We got their hair cut too recently – I LOVE Lala’s.  Wish my hair looked that good.

The appointment went really well, and the girls are doing so so great, they are totally normal healthy kids.  The doctor said no one would ever know they were born almost two months early.  They are also completely gigantic – both 38 inches tall and 40ish lbs.  As I suspected, I need to start watching more closely what they eat and more importantly, how much of it.  I still can’t quite accept that my 3 pound babies are now TOO big.  If putting on weight or helping people put on weight were a job, i would be a millionaire.  A superstar.

The doctor mentioned that we hadn’t been in for awhile and i said we had really been lucky with avoiding sickness – we had a rough November and December but after that everyone had been healthy.  I AM SO STUPID.  I never learn.  Jinx jinx jinx.  Never say your kids are healthy, and never say they sleep great.  Never.

That very night, Charlotte got a runny nose and it’s been downhill from there.  We’re on something like day 10 of this awful cold/cough/fever/stomach/who knows what being passed between Lala and Katie (with a brief unpleasant stop on Mommy, ugh).  I hate having sick kids, as I’m sure all Moms do.  But this is the first time the girls have been sick since they really started talking, and it is so different.  It is so much better to have them be able to tell me, my tummy hurts, or I’m sick, than to completely try and guess.  Although both my girls (ok, especially Charlotte) will relentlessly tell everyone they’re sick. Poor Lala!  Poor Katie!  I’m sick!!  I need a pillow and a blanket and my bunny!! I’m sick! I need juice!  That part isn’t as great.

In addition to milking their illnesses, they love to sing and talk all day long (Katie still talks about Daddy’s bear suit, not sure when that will stop……) and are just really really fun sweet good girls.

It is so much fun to watch them grow up, Megan! You can just tell what sunny, impy, adorable girls they are. (And I'm trying not to focus too much on the fact that they both outweigh my very very very teeny, never on the charts FIVE AND A HALF YEAR OLD. :-0)
