On Ice

The girls went to their first big 'show' yesterday. It was my mom's birthday so we thought it would be fun to all go to Disney On Ice. The girls have been obsessed with ice skating for awhile now, I think due in part to Max and Ruby (the main teacher of my children lately, it seems.... sadly....). Also, right after Christmas we took them into the city to see the tree and they were very enamored with the ice skaters at Rockefeller Center. And of course our own little trek out onto the ice with them a few weeks ago which they still talk about (cold! slippery! ice skating, ice skating, brrrrrr).

I had my doubts about their ability to sit for two hours though and watch ice skating, especially since they don't really know many Disney characters, aside from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and of course, the Princesses that are everywhere and on everything. I did put on my Cinderella DVD for them the night before the ice show, and they watched almost all of it. Charlotte really liked it, but I think mostly for the singing birds and mice (aw, so cute! is her favorite phrase).

In the end, I was really proud of them, they made it through the ENTIRE Disney on Ice show. Again Charlotte in particular was pretty enthralled by it all. Katie liked it (especially the clapping and the $20 light up wand we bought her) but after awhile she got a little fidgety. Both girls were so good and cute, it was a really great day. Today they both were talking all day about Mickey (and Minnie, and Donald and Goofy and the Lion and Cinderella....) ice skating.

Another first, with many many more to come. I love it.

Katie, very excited to see MICKEY! MICKEY!

This is so encouraging- to see both girls sat through the show. My middle daughter is about 4 months older than your girls, and we just bought our tickets to go see Finding Nemo On Ice. I'm hoping our trip goes as well as yours!

And their Hello Kitty dresses are so adorable!

How fun! I love how you had them all dressed up and that they had to carry little purses, little Divas!

I found your blog through Cari's at Our life is a bowl of Barry's. I went back and read every post about your beautiful son, Jack. I cannot imagine the emotions you went through every single day, and I know still to this day.

I know I will think about him, and you, all day today. I feel honored reading about him--I know that might sound silly, but I do. Your courage and love is amazing! Hugs from New Mexico from a mama sitting here crying for you.

Michelle

PS Your girls are beautiful! :)

I am coming out of the blog-stalking closet to tell you that I love your blog, and your two girls are the cutest things I've ever seen. How fun and it's so nice to read about someone who so clearly loves spending time with their children.
