Merry Little

I hope everyone had a Merry Little Christmas....

We did. It's been a lovely holiday. I did miss my Jack, missed him so much on Christmas. Holidays are so different now, since we had the babies, it's like every emotion is multiplied. Everything seems so much more important, wonderful, meaningful. But sadness too can seem overwhelming, tears flow so easily. The sight of Jack's stocking still hanging on the mantle all alone at the end of the day sent me out into the rainy night to cry a few tears alone, and search futilely for his star on an overcast Christmas night, and tell him for the hundredth time that day how I missed him. There will never be a Christmas I won't hang his stocking on the mantle, and I imagine there will never be a Christmas the sight of it won't bring me to tears.

Katie and Charlotte were so sweet and happy though, they loved every minute of Christmas (after a small melt down by Katie on Christmas Eve when I put out Santa's milk and cookies, because she did not want Santa IN HER HOUSE or drinking her milk, NO MILK FOR SANTA she screamed from her crib for ten minutes... she's still a bit scared of him, and by a bit I mean completely terrified.)

They were thrilled with all their gifts. My incredibly polite Katie yelled "THANK YOU MAMA!" for every single present. Even the ones that weren't from me. Charlotte loved her Christmas dress and declared herself a princess in it. They both loved the kitchen that Santa left them, and the table and chairs Grandma and Pops bought them, and the doctor kits Aunt Jeanne got them. I've gotten quite a few shots and ear, nose and throat exams the last few days. Not to mention big plastic thermometers shoved in my eye. Their bedside manner could use some work.

They are unbelievably funny and smart and happy. And I had an amazing 2009 thanks to them and all our wonderful friends and family.

Here's to an even happier (and healthier!) 2010.

Happy Holidays to the entire family! I recognize the video camera in one picture as Mo got the Dora backpack too! It is amazing what a difference a year makes.
