Sickos

All vacation recaps and other entries have been unfortunately derailed by the never ending illnesses marching their way through my family. Here, a recap of the last two weeks, health wise....

8/7 Thursday: Both girls seem to have colds, but I'm trying to convince myself it's allergies.

8/8 Friday: Yep, it's colds. Both babies snotty and sneezy, but we leave for the shore anyway.

8/9 Saturday: On vacation. Both girls noses like faucets of snot. Katie also has cough.

8/10 Sunday: On vacation. Both girls still have colds but neither have fevers, thank God for small favors.

8/11 Monday: Still on vacation. Girls still have colds. Sand sticks to snot like glue, FYI.

8/12 Tuesday: Vacation and colds continue, unabated.

8/13 Wednesday: Colds seem a little better, just in time to...

8/14 Thursday: ....come home from vacation. Both girls seem fine.

8/15 Friday: At Whole Foods today, Charlotte seemed hot. Got home and she didn't have a fever. Must have been my imagination.

8/16 Saturday: Beautiful day. Planning to go to the pool until.... Charlotte has 100 degree fever.

8/17 Sunday: Charlotte still has fever, hovering around 100, spiked to 101 last night. Teething maybe? She is getting 3 teeth.

8/18 Monday: Charlotte woke up fine but after lunch - fever of 99.6. Took her in to see pediatrician at 6:15 pm and of course she then had NO FEVER (not a smidge of temperature! to quote my favorite movie.) She laughed and smiled and waved and was the picture of health and generally made me look like a dope. Doc did give me a bag to collect her pee in just to rule out a UTI. Lucky me.

8/19 Tuesday: Still no fever in Charlotte. Trot myself back to pediatrician with bag o' pee (barely - hard to get pee from a 10 month old). Pee is perfect, no infection. Everyone is well! Wait.... Katie's eye looks funny. Runny and puffy. If still like that in morning, will call doctor.

8/20 Wednesday: Katie's eye still looks bad... and she has a fever of 100.6. BACK TO PEDIATRICIAN. He thinks Katie has same viral infection Charlotte must have had, and it's in her eye also. Go pick up eye drops which must be put in Katie's eye 3 times a day for 7 days. Almost as much fun as collecting pee in a bag.

Did I mention, I have been sick as a dog with a cold (probably caught from the babies) since Sunday night? Yeah, left that part out.

So... just waiting for what's next. Maybe Leroy's feline herpes will act up. Or PJ will get sick and I will have to collect HIS pee in a bag.

Cute 10 month pics of the girls to show, even in sickness, they're still adorable and happy. Making me always look like a fool when I take them to the pediatrician (so, Mrs. M, what are you here for again? She's sick? Are you sure you brought in the right one?)

Yep, it's Katie's right eye with the infection... perhaps this picture should have been a clue...

That is called "The Copay Cure" Works every time.
I speak from almost 11 years of parenting experience. Take em in to your doctor, pay the copay, and VOILA! Healthy kids!

Adorable pictures. My 15 month old has a UTI right now. Did they give you the plastic bag with the bandaid tape around it to attach to her? That's we got and I think they were suprised when I handed them back a bag with about a half teaspoon of urine because toddlers are so eager to have that attached to them. Hope everyone is feeling better!

I don't know if anyone has already given you this tip, or if your ped did...last fall my oldest brought home pink eye her first week of kindergarten, which spread to our 3 month old baby. When I balked at trying to do eyedrops for them both, she told me to wait until their eyes were closed, and put a drop on the inner corner of their eyelid. When they open their eyes, the drop slides in. I'd say it works 80% of the time. Get well soon!
