We all survived (and enjoyed) the First Official Family Vacation.
It was a really nice week overall, but I am so tired. I feel more tired than before I left. Taking two 10-month olds 3 hours away, getting them to sleep in a strange place, taking them to the beach (along with 100 pounds of paraphernalia) where all they want to do is eat sand, taking them out to dinner, taking them to the boardwalk..... it's not easy. Wait, let me elaborate - two 10-month olds with bad colds, one of whom is also getting three teeth at once. OH YEAH. Do you know what happens when sand mixes with snot? You get cement.
Mmmm.... sand. For dessert I will eat Dad's shoe.
Let me wash all that delicious sand down with some more sand (and a bit of water...)
I have to say I did a kick @ss packing job for the girls (thanks in HUGE part to lots of your comments, suggestions and helpful emails, thank you thank you!!!). I didn't forget anything, and we used basically everything I brought, except for about 100 baby outfits. I didn't think about the fact that babies at the shore mostly wear bathing suits/onesies/diapers/pajamas. Other than that though, we had everything we needed.
I have lots more to say, but I am too tired tonight (and feeling kind of nauseous from the giant bag of cotton candy I ate for dinner). More to come, because lots happened - new teeth! New words!! First merry go round ride! First boardwalk trip! First ice cream cones! Oh yes, huge excitement.
Now I just need an Official Leave the Babies Home Go Someplace and Sit on the Beach Alone and Drink Mojitos Vacation.

There's no better meal than cotton candy and mojitos!!! I've been a lurker for some time, and really enjoy your site! I don't have kids yet but am hoping something will happen (we're about to start #3 IVF). I don't usually comment, but I LOVED that you ate cotton candy for dinner! It's nice to know I'm not alone. ☺
Glad you survived and had a good time!
Welcome home!!
How fashionable the girls look in the bathing suits and hats!!
Welcome Home! As tired as you are and the work it took to get every one to the beach you will look back at this "vacation" with smiles and laughter years down the road when you can tell the girls about their first shore experience. Rest up!!
I'm sorry it was a tough trip! Traveling with the babies is hard work but fun too. LOVE the girls hats!!!
When you arrange that mojitos vacation, can you PLEASE call me? LOL. Glad you had a good time. I cant get over that the kids will be 1 soon. Jeez.
what cute pictures! i am so glad you all had a wonderful time and i can't wait to hear more!
The girls in their bathing suits were too stinkin' cute. :)
Adorable!! Love the pics.. I thought taking ONE 10 month old down the shore (as we did w/Toby last summer) was work-- doing it with two should warrant a medal!! ;-) It looks like it was a fun time though!
I'm so jealous that your beach was actually sunny LOL. WA beaches are always cool and misty!
Can't wait for the rest of the updates... sounds like big changes are afoot for those two whirlwinds! It scares me to think that we're only 3 months behind!
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. I checked back everyday, and was actually missing...well you and your blogging. I'm so glad you're back. I can't wait to hear more!!
welcome back! im new to your blog, but have been back reading while you were away=) your kiddos are beautiful. rachel
I have been dying to see you post again. I think I was having withdrawls. So glad you all had fun. I don't think I have ever had a vacation with my kids without coming home and feeling I needed one for myself. Exhausting but worth it. Can't wait to hear all the new updates.
What cuties! Sounds like you had a wonderful (and busily hectic) time. Can't wait to see more pics.
:)
I read your blog every now and then and I just have to say - those two beautiful girls are the most precious things I have EVER seen. I LOVE the beach photos and their hats are adorable. What fun they must have had! Good for you, for taking your munchkins to the beach. You get extra mommy points for that!
You are one brave girl!! I couldn't even attempt the beach this year for fear of everyone eating the sand at the same time :) welcome back!
Never thought of the "eating sand" hazard at the beach for little ones. We'll wait until LIttle J is a bit older to go there! Thanks for the warning.
Glad you survived, even though it was tiring. I am sure you made many lasting memories!
I'd like to come along on that Mojitos vacation! Glad you had a good time.
I need that mojitos beach vacation too!!
The pictures are great. Glad you had a great time...can't wait to hear more!
Have you ever considered writing a book??? :-) I am kind of addicted to your posts. Your story is intriguing. You write captivatingly and have a great sense of humor!
