Ramblings

The biggest news around here is that Miss Charlotte has a tooth. Well, almost a tooth, it looks to be about half-way in. It was barely visible on Monday - so I was sure we would wake up Tuesday morning and there it would be. I couldn't believe it would take so long, once it broke through the gums. PJ finds this hilarious... that I thought *POOF* - a tooth popped in!! He said I probably also believe if I hit him in the head a huge lump would immediately sprout out of his head and little birdies would fly around it.... I said get the hammer and we'll find out...

But I digress... back to the tooth. Today we noticed that next to the almost full tooth is the beginning of another tooth - so almost two!! These toofuses are elusive though... the only way to see them is to get Charlotte to laugh hysterically. If you try to pull her mouth open she refuses or pushes her tongue out to cover the teeth. I've tried though... like so...

Nope.

Katie is showing all the signs of teething but no tooth yet. Despite my repeatedly telling her that Charlotte with two sharp pointy little teeth and her with no teeth is a bad, bad situation for her to be in. Maybe Katie's will POOF just pop in overnight, like I had imagined.

Katie might not have teeth but she can SIT. She sits great, unlike Charlotte, who sits for a few seconds then kind of flops over. And still shows no interest in crawling, and will hold her own bottle only when forced to (as in you hold it or don't eat). I swear she just wants things done for her.

Katie sitting, Charlotte not. She says, you sit, I'll relax.

They are so sweet right now, and so fun. I am loving this age... every day seems to bring something new. They light up when they see you, they sit and play and love their toys, they are fascinated with the cat, and with each other, and with almost everything. They are amazing.

In Jack news - the article came out in our local paper about him but it was a MESS. I won't even post the link because it was so terrible. There were so many mistakes in it, most importantly the E-MAIL address for Jack's fund, it was very disappointing. I know it wasn't exactly a huge story and it is a little rinky dink town paper, but still, it's very important to us and it is just sad to me that they didn't do a better job.

PJ's boss at his second job has been so incredibly generous to us, they have two little boys close in age so had quite a few 'twin' sort of things. On Friday he gave us a MacLaren Twin Techno Stroller, barely used. It was so exciting!! I love love love it.... I love our other stroller but it's sort of heavy and clunky for shopping with, plus whoever is in back has been kicking the crap out of the baby in front.

We used it on Saturday to go to Costco and I realized, it attracts a lot more attention.... with our other stroller a lot of people couldn't even see there was another baby in the back. With this one, there they are, side by side.... people were literally gawking at us, pointing and calling other people over to see the girls. They ARE super cute but still, it was a little disconcerting. One lady even insisted on showing me pictures of her twin grandsons.... okay. Whenever stuff like that happens, all I can think is, if we only had Jack, these people think two are a big deal... they don't know.

A man walked by with two little (I assumed) twin girls in a carriage and was talking to me about the babies. As he walked away he said "We have another one at home.... they're triplets!" It caught me off guard, I didn't have time to say, my girls are triplets too...we have another one..... it bothered me all night. I felt like I let Jack down. I'm sorry Jack.

Later that night we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner (a fiasco) and while we were waiting (for EVER), everyone who would come up to us and ask about the girls, I would tell them, they were triplets. Their brother passed away. I don't always do that but I felt like that night, I needed to.

And when we got in the car to go home after a torturous baby-screaming filled dinner, what song came on the radio? You know. I don't even need to say it. I knew Jack was there that night, it was so weird... if only he'd helped us get a table a little bit sooner. Next time, Jack.

That song is your link to Jack. I believe it. He knows what's going on and knows that you need a sign every now and then.

teeth are fun! My son didn't get teeth til he was almost a year old- and then 5- yes 5, within a couple of weeks. And it didn't really bother him ?!

I don't know the song- I'll look back to older posts for it...
Like I commented before - Jack is definitely right there with you... and his sisters :)

I just wanted to let you know that, amidst all your pain and joy, you are so beautiful.

I believe in Jack's song too. You know the comfort he has helped bring me with it.

As for teeth, I am jealous! Paige is over 8 months now and NO teeth. But acting like she is teething on and off since 4 months. We need a tooth to pop through already!

I've been following your story as a fellow nestie. I've read your blog from about Sept. on. For some reason, today, I decided to read it all over again. I went back to the begining, way back to the beggining, I read every entry again, I don't know why really I just did.

Sometimes I feel like I lose hope or I can't be the "gardener" as you put it all the time. Reading your blog all over again, gave me that inspiration and hope that seemed to have been lost somewhere. Reading about Jack and about the girls and how much they're growing really gives one a sense of what life has to give.

Just wanted to tell ya that! Your story is inspirational, little Jack lives on in each and every one of us who have been touched by his story, by his fight.

and your girls are beautiful, gotta love the cheeks lol :)

Yay for teething! I recommend putting a teething ring in the freezer and then letting the girls munch on that.

You know that any time that song comes on, it's Jack. It's your link to him, among other little things.

I have this comfortable feeling that Jack knows my kiddos & their having a blast.

A teether and a sitter! You have a busy house over there. And Jack. Sweet, sweet Jack. Just wanted to send you a thank-you for telling people about him. Sorry to hear that the article was not better written. I mean, even for a little paper, they should have checked their facts, ran it by you before they published it , and definitely should have the email right!!!

SO sorry that the newspaper article didn't turn out the way you had hoped.

WAY cool about the new stroller.

AWESOME that you keep hearing Jack's song just when you need it most. Your little angel is reminding you that he IS with you!

Your girls are too darn cute! Hope they haven't been too cranky with the teething. This sounds crazy, but my mother-in-law recommended it and my daughter LOVED it...we let her gnaw on frozen waffles when she was teething. She much preferred their taste and texture to any of the plastic teething rings. Just an idea... :)

I LOVE that Jack's song played for you that night. He truly is always, always with you. It put a smile on my face. He wanted you to know, it's okay Mommy, he knows you will never let him down.

My son just got his first tooth-it seemed like forever and it seems like he's getting another one soon. My son does the same thing-when I try to look at his tooth-he sticks his tongue out! I heard the song yesterday and thought of you and Jack. Never met you but that song will always remind me of the both of you. I also believe that he was telling you that he is always with you and his sisters.

Our new baby boy is five months old and we are in teething hell around here. I feel for you.

I just love your Jack. He always has his way of showing you that he is still watching over you and his sisters.

My heart ACHES for you knowing that you will get those "questions and comments" forever. There are certain comments from strangers that have knocked me to my knees before. Most of the time they are well meaning but even still it hurts.

Love that his song came on later.

Fly high little Jack and keep on showing Mommy that your there. She misses you and I do too.

I have the mountain buggy twin stroller, and it is SERIOUSLY the best. It fits through doorways, and you can push it with your pinky finger. It turns on a dime...

It is quite an investment, but you can get used ones online for better prices.

GET ONE IF YOU CAN!

Go easy on yourself there. Jack is in the presence of JESUS; he's not even thinking about condemning you. Say what you want to say and don't feel bad about it. Sometimes I say I have 5 kids; other times I say I have 3 girls and 1 boy with me; whatever I feel is right to say at the time. Be proud of your girls and be proud of your Jack!

PS - Have you thought about a necklace or a ring? I have a ring with my Micah's initial on it as well as a necklace with my girls' names on it with a Precious Moments angel added on top of it for Micah. It has the stone for the month in which they joined the LORD. Just a thought.
