September

The summer it seems, is drawing to a close.

As a child I loved summer, but really, what child doesn't? Endless days spent swimming at the pool, and always a couple weeks down the shore. Hours spent roaming in the park, riding our bikes until dark and of course lots of trips for ice cream.

This summer has been for me, a reminder of my childhood. Two summer ago I was on maternity leave, but really pregnant with triplets and unable to leave the house most days due to the heat. Last summer was nice, but the girls were too little to really 'get' anything like the beach or the pool, and honestly all of last year is a blur of little sleep and lots and lots of grief.

The girls and I have totally enjoyed this summer. The beach and the pool and the park (and the park, and the park..... lots of time spent at the park). Sprinklers were run through, ice cream was eaten, waves were ridden, pools were jumped in, knees were scraped, swings were swung and slides were slid.

And my babies turned into toddlers. That last little bit of baby that clung to them even at the beach in June is gone. They are spunky, silly, spirited little girls. And I love it and hate it all at the same time. I love when Katie tells me "Come on!!!" in the same voice I use. And when Charlotte climbs to the top of the monkey bars so quickly it inspires admiration from the 10 year old boys standing nearby. But I miss my babies already.

They slipped away in the blink of an eye.

The summers are just flying by. I can't wait for next year. But I hope it doesn't come too fast.

Awww your girls are getting so big - and so darn cute at that. We hope you enjoy the fall! Looking forward to reading about all of your adventures with Toddlers now.

I completely agree with your last statement. It's hard to look forward to the great things to come yet know it means another year has passed by. This time next year I'll send the youngest set of twins to school and that will leave me with a way too quiet house.....your girls sure have grown-they sound like a lot of fun!!

So cute to see how big they have gotten in a year!! It does seem like it happens in the blink of an eye!! Try not to blink, because soon they will be heading off to kindergarten!! Can't wait to read and see pics from their first day!!

What a sweet post! And yes, so very bittersweet as our little ones get older. Where does the time go? :)

Wow...they're like little weeds they're growing so fast! Your girls are beautiful. My son is only 4 months old and I'm so overwhelmed with how quickly he's changing. I can't even imagine getting to the toddler stage but I know it's just around the corner.
