Tots

The support and kind words have been overwhelming. Thank you all so much, for every single note or email. Thank you for still loving my Jack, remembering him, caring about him, and the girls, and our whole family.

We made it through January 2nd. For me, New Years Eve and New Years day were much, much harder. Those were the days that were so horrible last year, the days when Jack was so sick, he had 'attack' after attack, some in my arms.... I have never had much love for New Years Eve but now, I can honestly say, I hate it hate it hate it and will always hate it and dread it.

January 2nd we went out to lunch, took the girls to Toys R Us where they got a few toys and picked out something for Jack. Brought his little toy to the cemetery along with some balloons and flowers. Spent the day as a family, and thought about our Jack.

I feel like I have neglected the girls here lately, and they are up to so much. They are so smart and funny and entertaining, and up to new tricks every day.

They can:

  • Climb up on the couch/chair/coffee table/anything. There is no place safe from them now.
  • Both say the words Cat, Mama, Dada, Jack, No and Katie says nice nice.
  • Clap, wave, play pattycake, SO BIG, and peek a boo (they've been doing all of these for awhile).
  • Go and get things if you ask, like the remote, the phone, a book, their babydoll.
  • Sort of use a fork (Katie is better at this than Charlotte, but she's trying).
  • Point if you say "Where's Mommy? Where's Daddy?" etc. They know SO MANY things - Daddy, Grandma, their cousins, the cat, the Christmas Tree, on and on and on. The one that confuses them is "Where's Katie?"or "Where's Lala?" They always point to each other... they don't seem to comprehend who's who, or that they're two different people, not KatieLala. :)

I gave them some tater tots recently and Katie loved them. While she ate them, she did this little... dance. Which PJ deemed "The Tater Tot Dance". Now all you have to do is say the words TATER TOT and they both do the dance (which honestly, involves not much dancing, mostly just wiggling). It's endlessly amusing to us. This video shows the dance, and their mad pointing skills (and identity crisis...lol).

My mother says, only my daughters would have a Tater Tot Dance. Probably true....

The tater tot dance made me laugh out loud. They are just way too cute. I'm sure Jack is up there somewhere doing the tater tot dance along with his crazy sisters.

LOL, yes, only your children would create a tater tot dance!!!! I also think is hysterical/adorable that they don't separate one another!

Oh, this has to be one of my favorite videos yet. The tater tot dance/wiggle is so funny! I love how they both just wiggle, wiggle. oh fun! and good little pointers. one day I bet we will all wish our kiddos didn't point out everything when it happens to be at a stranger in an embarrassing moment or something. But for now...so so cool! Way to go Katie and Lala!

My niece has a 'cottage cheese' dance that looks just like it! Then she graduated to the 'King Kong' dance. (she's a few months older). You'll know it when you see it!

I dare anyone to watch that and not laugh out loud! They are beyond precious.

So incredibly adorable!! Your girls are so precious. And my girls have the exact same identity crisis - they point at the other person every - single - time. And, when I ask them to point themselves out in a photo, 99% of the time, they point out their twin sister. I've had other twin moms tell me their kids do this - so I guess I'll count it as a "twin thing."
