6 Months

Katie and Charlotte are officially 'on the charts' for six month olds... not adjusted age, and not barely on the charts. They are squarely completely average normal 6 month olds. Actually, in the words of our pediatrician, they are 'perfect six month old babies.' I asked her if we should have Early Intervention come evaluate them and she said we could if we wanted but she thinks it would be a waste of our time - that they do everything they should be doing and more. I'm so proud of my girls!

Charlotte the Starlet aka CHAR-LOT aka Peanut - Then and Now:

Then: Charlotte was born first at 8:09 am. She was the smallest at a teeny 3lbs 3oz and white as a sheet. She was healthy though, and alert from the first second she entered the world.

Now:
Weight: 16 lbs 3 oz (25-50th percentile)
Length: 25 inches (25th percentile)
Head: 43 cm (50-75th percentile - BIG!! LOL)

Charlotte has suddenly become the baby she was the first month of her life again.. she is SO HAPPY. It started about 2 weeks ago, this change in personality. She wakes up every morning laughing.

She's doing much better at eating than Katie now. She still loves a compliment and will stop fussing if you start telling her how pretty she is. She laughs and smiles at Katie. She rolls over nonstop. She is my little doll. She is Mommy's Girl. She has melted my heart since day one, I don't think it will ever stop.

Katie Girl aka Katie-Katie aka Jelly - Then and Now:

Then: Katie was born second at 8:10 am. She was the biggest of the three, but still pretty tiny at 3lbs 13oz. She was BEET red from the twin to twin transfusion syndrome, but healthy. She let out a little cry right away, and it was the sweetest sound in the world, from the sweetest baby.

Now:
Weight: 16 lbs 14 oz (50th percentile)
Length: 26 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 42.5 cm (50th percentile)

Katie is still such a sweet baby. We've had a few crabby days recently, maybe it's teething, maybe it's just her turn to be a crab, she's entitled. Even a grumpy Katie isn't really very grumpy. She loves everyone, especially her Daddy. She is big and chubby and cuddly. She still loves her bath, babbling, and blowing raspberries. She is so close to sitting on her own but seems to have no interest in rolling over. She has less hair than Charlotte, but both have BARELY enough to hold little baby barrettes.

Katie has a way of making everyone think they are her favorite, everyone says "Katie loves me!" and the truth is, she does.

Jack was born last, at 8:11 am. He was 3lbs 7oz, and was the only baby that looked like Mommy. He was so narrow and skinny, but beautiful.

Jack Then, and his balloon we brought him on Thursday:

We miss you Jack. I would do anything to be able to post a "Now" update for you. Now you are in heaven, watching over your sisters.

Happy Six Months my babies! I can't believe how fast the time is going. I love how fun you are and how you seem to learn something new every day (and how you sleep through the night) but I am already missing my little tiny babies.

(Remember - Charlotte is in pink, of course... Katie is in green...)

Your children are beautiful. I check your blog every day to see if you've posted any new updates. I'm getting married in two months and am looking forward to one day starting a family. I hope that I am able to handle motherhood with the same grace and dignity that you do.

How beautiful! Reading about your Jack always touches my heart.

My twins, Noah and Zach, now almost 3, used to "flip" personalities fairly regularly, especially during their first year of life.

They will never stop surprising you!

Happy 6 months to all three of your little ones... who aren't so little anymore!

It'll be amazing when my girls are on the charts, too. Not to mention sleeping through the night!

i cannot believe how big katie and charlotte have gotten! mine are 3 months older and still not on the chart for actual age! i am so happy to hear how fantastic they are doing, that is just so wonderful! i agree, that they seem to be looking more and more alike!

I love your new blog header, too - the photos really seem to capture each baby's personality!

6 months - and your babies are all just too adorable. I'm so glad you got such a fantastic report from the pediatrician. You all deserve a break :) and it is so great to hear the girls are healthy and happy (well, and crabby, but as you said, everyone is entitled sometimes...LOL).

I'm sorry that the visit to CHoP was such a difficult one - but I'm glad that each day you are feeling better about having went. I wish you were able to post new 6 month updates about Jack, too, but you do, in a way, by telling us about your feelings for him and how the girls remind you of him, too. PS> My family still thinks often of him and - as promised - his photo has a place of honor on our fridge. :)

Oh, and I just wanted to let you know - my little one, Noah, had trouble digesting Similac, too. We switched to Enfamil Lipil and he did really well on that! So maybe try out a few different kinds...you never know.

Thinking of you,
Jennifer (and Evan and family)

Baby love!!! Gosh they are beautiful!!!

Can I just share with you something? I just got back from a Mom's weekend and while I was there blogs came up in conversation. Quickly everyone of my friends mentioned that since I posted the sad news of Jack's passing on my blog that they can't stop checking in on you guys. We ALL shed tears for him and commented on how intensely he had impacted each and every one of our lives.

Even people you will never meet, never talk too, were touched deeply by your son. That little boy was and IS an angel. I thank God for him.

You seem to favor Charlotte in many of your posts. Both your girls should melt your heart, not just one of them :-) Just an observation.

Hi, Jennifer from TC, just wanted you to know I've been following along on your families journey for a while now. I'm so pleased that the girls are doing so well. I know Jack is smiling down on your beautiful family. I'm wishing you and your husband all the best. And as for the anonymous poster above my comment, are you kidding me? How dare you comment on the way someone cares for their children, unless you are their mother you don't know her feelings. Your negativity belongs elsewhere, this site is about love and hope.

Happy half birthday! Katie and Charlotte are so precious. They seem like amazing little girls. And they will forever have an angel brother watching over them.

Oh, my dear... that put tears in my eyes and gave me chills. It goes so quickly, and the trials and tribulations make them even more precious. Those little girls of yours are just so gorgeous and they're FIGHTERS!!

My throat tightens when I read about your little Jack, and I completely lose the ability to say anything meaningful. But I'm thinking about you and your family.
